Access by bus and/or tram

OFFoff is close to several bus and tram stops: the stops ‘Vijfwindgatenstraat' and ‘Clarissenstraat' are 300 metres from the entrance of Begijnhof Ter Hoyen where OFFoff is located. The stop ‘Gent Zuid' is 400 metres away. You can check the timetables for trams and buses by clicking the link above.

Starting from the ‘Gent Zuid' stop, head towards the Capitole building and take the Tweebruggenstraat, which is about a 100 metres to the right of the Capitole antrance, by going underneath the arches there. Take the second right (the first curves back around to the street the Capitole was in) into Lange Violettestraat and after walking about 150 metres, you will find the dark green entrance gate to Begijnhof Ter Hoyen on the left side of the road.

Starting from the ‘Gent Vijfwindgatenstraat' stop, follow the Vijfwindgatenstraat all the way to the end (away from the park) and take a left there into Lange Violettestraat. After about 150 metres, you will find the dark green entrance gate to Begijnhof Ter Hoyen on the right side of the road.

Starting from the ‘Gent Clarissenstraat' stop, go to the crossroads with Sint-Lievenspoortstraat and Lange Violettestraat. Turn left there into Lange Violettestraat, and, after about 250 metres, you will find the dark green entrance gate to Begijnhof Ter Hoyen on the right side of the street.

Enter Begijnhof Ter Hoyen and go up to the large, grassy inner courtyard. Turn right and go all the way to the end and left there to reach the back right side of the church where you will find the old Infirmary building in which OFFoff is housed.

Directions from Ghent Saint Peters Train Station

Almost all of the trains headed for Ghent will stop at Saint Peters station. You can check timetables and other information on the site of the NMBS/SNCB.

Several buses will take you from the train station to the ‘Gent Vijfwindgatenstraat' stop or the ‘Gent Zuid' stop. You can check timetables and other information on the de Lijn website.

It's about a 2.9 kilometre journey (10 minutes by bike or 40 minutes on foot) from Ghent Saint Peters Station to Art Cinema OFFoff. Starting from the station's main entrance, go diagonally right across the square into Koningin Astridlaan. At the end of this street, go across Kortrijksesteenweg and turn left into Koning Leopold II-laan alongside Citadel park. Follow it to the end where you will reach Charles de Kerchovelaan (Ghent ring road, R40) and head right on it still keeping Citadel park on your right. At the first traffic light, cross the street and turn left into Kunstlaan. At the end of Kunstlaan, turn slightly right and cross the small square (Kramersplein) there to simply keep going straight ahead after that, following Kantienberg down to a bridge. Cross it and keep going straight into François Bernardstraat. On the crossroads with Franklin Rooseveltlaan and Tentoonstellingslaan, turn left into Franklin Rooseveltlaan. After 150 metres, turn right into Jules de Bruyckerdreef on the south side of King Albert park. Follow the road to the other side of the park towards the street that runs parallel to Franklin Rooseveltlaan. Turn left onto that street (Hubert Drere-Orbanlaan) and almost immediately right again into Vijfwindgatenstraat which you follow to the end. There, turn left into Lange Violettestraat and after about 150 metres, you will find the dark green entrance gate to Begijnhof Ter Hoyen on the right side of the road.

Enter Begijnhof Ter Hoyen and go up to the large, grassy inner courtyard. Turn right and go all the way to the end, and then left there to reach the back right side of the church where you will find the old Infirmary building in which OFFoff is housed.

Directions from Ghent Dampoort train station

Coming from Antwerp, you could also get off the train at Ghent Dampoort train station. You can check timetables and other information on the site of the NMBS/SNCB.

Bus 76 (Wachtebeke - Lochristi - Gent - de Pinte) will take you from the station to the ‘Gent Zuid' stop in seven minutes (see ‘access by bus and/or tram' for directions from that point on).

It's about a 1.6 kilometre journey (5 minutes by bike or 20 minutes on foot) from Ghent Dampoort Station to Art Cinema OFFoff. First, follow the large Dampoort roundabout in front of the station to the left (against traffic) and take the first left off of it to get onto Kasteellaan. Go all the way to the second set of traffic lights where Kasteellaan curves to the right and simply keep following it for a few minutes until you cross over two bridges (Tweebruggenstraat). After the second bridge, keep following the road, but when it curves to the right, go straight ahead into a much smaller street (still Tweebruggenstraat - this part of the street is a car-free zone). Follow Tweebruggenstraat until you can turn left into Lange Violettestraat. After about 150 metres, you will find the dark green entrance gate to Begijnhof Ter Hoyen on the left side of the street.

Enter Begijnhof Ter Hoyen and go up to the large, grassy inner courtyard. Turn right and go all the way to the end, and then left there to reach the back right side of the church where you will find the old Infirmary building in which OFFoff is housed.

Access by car

If you are going to Ghent by car, then you should take the motorway (E17 or E40) and follow E17 in the direction of Ghent-Centre (crossing B401). From the end of the motorway, OFFoff should only be a three minute drive away. At the motorway's end, go straight onto Zuidparklaan, which passes King Albert park on the right side. Keep to the right (the left lane leads to the Gent Zuid underground parking lot P3). When the road curves slightly to the right after passing the traffic lights (you also cross the tram rails here), immediately take the first right turn, and then take a quick left (Sint-Annastraat). Follow Sint-Annastraat to the end onto Tweebruggenstraat for just a short time to then turn right again into Lange Violettestraat. After about 150 metres, you will find the dark green entrance gate to Begijnhof Ter Hoyen on the left side of the street. Important note: there is no parking allowed in Begijnhof Ter Hoyen. Only a little further up Lange Violettestraat, there is a small parking area on the left side, or, you can pretty much always find parking in Parking Gent Zuid (P3). To get there, instead of keeping right at the end of Zuidparklaan, keep to the left and you will reach the underground parking. For directions from Gent Zuid, look at the ‘access by bus and/or tram' section.

Venue rental

Art Cinema OFFoff contains a venue with a separate projection room and a foyer which can be hired by third parties for events or activities (rehearsals, meetings, presentations, receptions, etc.). OFFoff is, however, NOT a party venue.
The venue measures eight by twelve metres and contains a maximum of fifty seats (these can be moved to make room for tables and the like). We also offer onscreen projection (with sound) of DVD, VHS, Super-8, 16mm, laptop, etc. Before entering the main room, you pass the smaller foyer managed by OFFoff. On request, the foyer can be opened and used during an event.
All of these rooms are within Begijnhof ter Hoye where parking is prohibited as it is a historic site.

Rental cost for one day is 200 euros, including: the rooms, the option of projection, and the management and cleaning of the foyer. Without the inclusion of the foyer, the price is reduced to 150 euros. If you wish to rent for longer than one day or simply want more information, please contact the OFFoff manager at dewulfmieke@gmail.com.
